Comparison

How Wanvane compares

The other platforms here can do most of what we do. The difference is what you pay for it: filtering, CPE management and a hotspot are separately licensed almost everywhere else, and included here. We charge $0.20 per active subscriber a month, or R3.30. Every other figure on this page comes from that vendor’s own published pricing, linked at the bottom, with the date we checked.

The honest number

What a 1 000-subscriber ISP actually pays.

Not the licence on the front page — the licence plus the modules you will want on day one. Filtering, CPE management and a captive-portal hotspot are not exotic; most WISPs end up with all three.

Every per-subscriber figure above is a published dollar rate, so that top row needs no exchange rate to read: $0.20 against $0.55 and $1.25. The Rand equivalents of the other two are at R18 to the dollar and will move with it — ours will not, if you choose to be billed in Rand. Our smallest licence is 300 subscribers ($60 or R990 a month), sold in hundreds after that, and paying annually saves 10 per cent. Sonar’s rate is its published Tier 1 price and needs an annual contract; the Whalebone figures are what we have been quoted rather than a published rate, so treat them as indicative and check for yourself.

Where we are honest

Reasons not to choose us.

A comparison page that finds no fault with its own product is an advert. These are real, and you should weigh them.

They have been doing this far longer

Splynx, Powercode and Azotel have served ISPs for well over a decade, with the breadth of edge cases that comes from that. We are newer, and we run a real network of our own — which is why we exist, but it is not the same as twenty years of other people’s networks.

Accounting is QuickBooks today

If your books are on Sage, Xero or Zoho, the hand-off is manual for now. All three are next on the list and none of them are hard — but today it is an export, not a sync.

We are built for South Africa first

Rand, Netcash, DebiCheck, WhatsApp, local support hours. If you bill in dollars across three continents, a vendor built for that will fit you better than we will.

Migration assistance

Moving is the hard part. We do it with you.

Nobody changes billing system because the demo looked nice. They change when moving stops being frightening. So here is exactly what transfers, what does not, and who does the work — before you talk to anyone.

1. A dry run first, on your real data

We import a copy into a workspace only you can see, and you check it against the system you are running today — customer counts, what each one pays, who is overdue. Nothing is live and nothing is billed. If the numbers do not match, we fix the import and run it again.

2. Both systems, for a month

Your old system keeps billing while Wanvane runs alongside it. You compare one full billing cycle before anything depends on us. RADIUS can be pointed at us for a handful of test accounts first, not the whole network.

3. From Splynx, we can read it live

We connect to your Splynx over its own API, read-only, and pull customers, services, packages, invoices, tickets, inventory and call records. No export file to produce, and we can re-read it right up to the day you cut over so nothing that changed in between is lost.

4. The cutover is one evening

Point your NAS at our RADIUS, switch your debit-order run over, and stop invoicing on the old system. Sessions already up stay up. We are on the phone while it happens, not in a ticket queue.

Tell us what you are on now and roughly how many subscribers. We will tell you honestly what will and will not come across before you commit to anything.
